The beginning of a new season in Murcian
This weekend, the Region of Murcia will host the opening of the Spanish SuperCampeonato 2025, with the outstanding presence of two Andorran riders, Joan Vinyes and Jordi Mercader, on board the Hyundai I20 Rally2 in Rallycar. This competition, the XIV Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca, marks the return of the two riders to the State Earth Races, with the support of the Hyundai Auto Center dealer in Andorra.
Technical improvements for a competitive rally
The Vinyes Dabad team has incorporated several technical improvements into its Hyundai I20 Rally2 for this new season, thanks to the efforts of the technical department of R-Technology. These innovations are designed to enhance vehicle benefits, which will be tested in a highly competitive environment.
Experience and strategy
Vinyes and Mercader aspire to use their accumulated experience to position themselves among the best in a rally that promises to be intense and dynamic. With a total of 12 teams competing in the Rally2 category, the competition is planned firm, with several brands represented officially.
Pre -Preparations and Test
Before the start of the competition, Vinyes made a day of tests in the same area of Murcia. In his own words, the pilot commented: “We have been able to explore the capabilities of the vehicle in optimum condition, which has allowed us to make important adjustments. The new car evolutions have provided positive sensations, with a significant increase in power and improvements in the change of gears that promote general efficiency.”
Format of Rally and expectations
The XIV Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca will take place for two days, with an initial day today Friday and most of the competition scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, March 22. Today will be a Shakedown, which will allow the fastest pilots to select their output position. Only one stretch will be scored today, followed by a ceremony of presentation of the teams and pilots.
