This meeting was an essential moment to address the collaboration between the two institutions in areas of great relevance such as economic growth and the promotion of tourism in the region.
Strategic Investments and the Economic Future
The President of the Port presented the current status of the strategic investments of the Tarragona Port Authority (APT) and outlined the expectations regarding their social and economic impact on the Camp de Tarragona. One of the most outstanding aspects was the development of the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL), a key project to increase the competitiveness of the Port as a logistics center, while promoting job creation in the region.
Synergies with Europe
The ZAL is presented as an opportunity to create synergies with other European regions, facilitating connections with intermodal terminals such as those in Boella and Guadalajara-Marchamalo, which could further boost the logistics potential of the territory.
Reindustrialization and Innovation
Castellà emphasized the ZAL’s ability to attract investments in emerging sectors, such as electric vehicles, semiconductors and batteries, thus contributing to the country’s reindustrialization.
Key Infrastructure Projects
In addition, the evolution of the Contradic de Ponent, an essential infrastructure for the operational efficiency of the Port, was discussed, with the aim of guaranteeing sustainable growth and adaptation to new energy demands.
Promotion and Dynamization of Tourism
Mayor Guaita highlighted the importance of promoting innovation as a driver for local development, creating an environment conducive to research and entrepreneurship. She also stressed the need to attract external talent to enrich the economic fabric of the area.
The Moll de Balears as a Strategic Point
One of the highlights was the recently inaugurated Moll de Balears, which not only reinforces the Port’s commitment to cruise tourism, but will also facilitate the installation of wind turbines for wind farms in France and Italy.
Shared Vision for the Future
The meeting served as a platform to identify synergies that can enhance the promotion of the territory, both parties agreed on the importance of positioning the Camp de Tarragona as an attractive destination for both industry and tourism.
