An International Musical Event
From April 24 to 27, Tarragona will become the capital of Jazz with the celebration of the 30th edition of the Dixieland Festival. This year, the contest presents a dynamic program that includes 46 performances with the participation of 28 artists from 14 different nations, thus reaffirming their commitment to the local community and international musical culture.
Inauguration of the style festival
The festival will start on Thursday, April 24 at 12.30 pm with the performance of Small River Dixie, which will cross the streets of the city to the Central Market, offering a first sample of the festive atmosphere that will characterize these days. The official opening will be held at the Tarragona Theater at 8 pm, with a special concert by Andrea Motis, who will present a new musical trio that will merge violin, mandolin and percussion. Tickets for this event is priced at € 25 and are available online.
A unique experience to the rhythm of jazz
On Friday, jazz takes a new dimension with the performance of Jazzson’s Five, which will combine music and circus in a family show that will begin at 12 noon at the Centenary Fountain. In the afternoon, at 8 pm, the Young Kesse Space will host the Gangbé Brass Band, a Beninenca formation that celebrates the essence of African jazz with a rich mix of afrobeat and voodoo rhythms.
More music and fun over the weekend
On Saturday 26, at 9 pm, the Tarragona Theater will receive the Balkan Paradise Orchestra, a group of ten musicians who has gained international recognition with their latest album, ‘Nectar’. This band began playing on the streets of Barcelona and has now performed on stage in Europe and New York, providing a fusion of Balkan sounds with global influences. At the same time, the Plaça del Fòrum will be the setting for Los Hermanos Pizarro, who will offer a live music session with Jazz Manouche rhythms and other styles, accompanied by a vermouth to enjoy the atmosphere.
