A historical march in defense of rights
On March 8, Tarragona was the scene of a unitary march organized by the Feminist Platform and LGBTIQ+ of the Camp, where thousands of voices joined to defend the rights of women and combat patriarchy. Although authorities reduced the number of participants to just over 700, organizers say that about 3,000 people made their presence feel.
A clear message: against fascism, more feminism
The motto of the march, ‘Against fascism, more feminism’, resonated strongly as the attendees went to Plaza de la Font. Jordina Salvat, one of the spokesmen of the entity, said that the far right is in a situation of vulnerability in the face of the advancement of feminism in various areas, including policies and social.
Significant stops in the resort
During the march, protesters stopped in front of symbolic places such as the Provincial Court and Vox headquarters. At these points, chants were felt that rejected both sexist violence and the ideologies of the far right, thus reinforcing their claim to justice and equality.
Lives worthy for everyone
The participants emphasized the importance of achieving decent lives for all people, regardless of their origin, class or sexual identity. Salvat emphasized that the feminist movement is not ready to make concessions in the fight for equality.
The importance of education and memory
Laura Rovira, a mother who brought her children to the march, shared her vision on equality education: ‘It is essential for my children to understand the importance of feminism to move forward as a society.’ Others, like Rosa Maria Molet, recalled the struggles of past generations, insisting on the need to defend women’s rights in court and in the workplace.
A future with hope
The March of Tarragona is not only an act of vindication, but also a reflection of the persistence of a movement that seeks to transform society and eradicate sexist violence. With each step, feminist voices strengthen, and the commitment to fight for a fairer and more egalitarian future becomes more and more evident.
