The second day of the Balearic delegation in the Sahrawi refugee camps
The second day of the Balearic delegation in the Balearic Islands in the Sahrawi refugee camps was a memorable experience.
The delegation is made up of several members of the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People of the Balearic Islands (AAPSIB), the General Directorate of Cooperation and Immigration of the Government, the members of the Intergroup Peace and Freedom for the Sahara of the Parliament and the Director of Strategic Projects and Institutional Relations of the Council of Mallorca.
During the visit to the camps, the delegation had the opportunity to be received in audience by the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Gali.
In this meeting, Brahim Gali expressed his gratitude for AAPSIB’s constant work in favor of the Sahrawi cause and recognized the institutions of the Balearic Islands for their solidarity with the Sahrawi people.
The President of the SADR has highlighted the important value of maintaining this political commitment and solidarity, especially after the change of position of the Spanish President Pedro Sánchez in relation to the decolonization of the Western Sahara.
Brahim Gali has reiterated the determination and firmness of the Sahrawi people in achieving the goal of independence.
Important meetings and visits
In addition to the audience with Brahim Gali, the Balearic delegation has held several meetings with those responsible for the Integral Sahrawi Child Health Program (PISIS), a decades-long continuity program of the AAPSIB.
They also had the opportunity to meet with the President of the Sahrawi Parliament and the Sahrawi Minister of Health.
In addition to the meetings, the delegation visited the National Hospital of the SADR, the most important hospital in the Western Sahara, where surgical interventions were carried out by the urology delegation of the AAPSIB, under the direction of Dr. Joan Antoni Pascual.
The visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps has been a unique opportunity for the Balearic delegation to get to know the situation of the Sahrawi people and strengthen ties of solidarity and cooperation.
