Finalist cheeses for the ICEX award
The Cremositos del Zújar Mini cheeses from Arteserena, from Campanario (Badajoz), and Flor de la Dehesa DOP Torta del Casar from Quesería Los Casareños, from Casar de Cáceres (Cáceres), have been selected as finalists for the prestigious ICEX (Institute of Commerce) Exterior of Spain) that recognizes the best cheeses in Spain.
Don Nicolás cheese from Finca de Uga, the best in Spain 2024
Don Nicolás cheese from Finca de Uga, located in Lanzarote, has been awarded as the best cheese in Spain in 2024. This matured cow’s cheese made from cooked paste has won the 14th GourmetCheese Championship, held within the framework of the 37th edition of the Gourmets Show in Madrid, the International Fair for Quality Food and Beverages.
The ICEX award and its support for Spanish cheeses
The ICEX award aims to support Spanish producers with export capacity to promote their cheeses in international markets. The finalist cheeses in this award will have the opportunity to participate in various ICEX promotional actions in foreign markets.

The renowned cheese competition in Spain
The most recognized cheese competition in the sector in Spain has had the participation of 880 cheeses. After a rigorous selection, in which aspects such as the rind, color, texture, smell, flavor and persistence of each sample were evaluated, only the 100 best-rated cheeses made it to the final, five for each of the 20 categories. The tasting panel was made up of 60 judges.
