La Bluewave Alliance i els Bluewave Days
The Bluewave Alliance, promoted by the ISDIN photoprotection and dermocosmetics laboratory, is organizing the second edition of the Bluewave Days, an initiative that seeks to raise public awareness of the importance of the protection and regeneration of the seas and oceans. This event, which will last six days, offers more than 60 activities in various locations on the Mediterranean coast.
The Symposium and the Round Tables
The highlight of the Bluewave Days will be the Symposium that will take place on Thursday 13 June at the Port Olímpic Auditorium in Barcelona. This Symposium will feature the participation of expert scientists, sustainability entrepreneurs and committed companies who will share ideas and solutions to conserve and protect the marine ecosystem. During the event, four round tables will be held that will address topics such as the latest advances in the protection of marine spaces and the combination of science, technology and art as a solution to rejuvenate the Mediterranean through the Sea Spores project.
Featured Participants
The CEO of ISDIN, Juan Naya, will open the Symposium, which will also have the participation of prominent CSIC researchers such as the marine biologist Emma Cebrián, the scientist Enric Ballesteros of the CEAB (Centre d’Estudis Avançats de Blanes) and Josep Lluís Pelegrí , from the Institute of Marine Sciences. Likewise, representatives of more than 24 companies and collaborating entities will participate.
Other Featured Events
During the Bluewave Days, the mini-series Waves of Tomorrow created by the Bluewave Alliance and Odicean Expeditions to inspire about Marine Protected Areas will also be presented. The closing presentation will be given by Manu San Félix, marine biologist, National Geographic explorer and founder of the Vellmarí Association, who has dedicated his life to research and care for nature.
Recognition and Sustainable Activities
After the Symposium there will be a gala and presentation of the Bluewave Awards, which will recognize the work of Michel André, expert in acoustic technology applied to the protection of the marine environment; Lorenzo Quinn, a contemporary sculptor who has contributed to raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection, and also Iosune Uriz, an outstanding scientist specializing in taxonomy, biology and genetics of marine sponge populations. In addition to the main event, during the Bluewave Days, several activities are being organized throughout Spain, such as the Sustainable Diving Week in different municipalities of the Costa Brava and other underwater actions in various coastal towns.
