Intervention required
Since the early hours of the morning, the City Council has taken decisive action to guarantee the safety of pedestrians and protect the environment. In this regard, two trees have been felled in Plaça d’Espanya.
Reasoned decision
These trees, despite being part of the urban landscape, had suffered irreparable damage in different fire incidents, putting the integrity of citizens at risk. After an analysis carried out by experts from the Natural Environment Conservation Institute, it was concluded that its conservation was unfeasible and represented a latent danger.
Responsible action
The City Council, aware of the importance of maintaining urban vegetation, has carried out this action with the utmost responsibility and following established protocols. The decision has been taken after an exhaustive technical evaluation and with the support of the expert opinion of the Natural Heritage Management Commission.
Reconstruction of the environment
Despite the need to cut down these trees, the City Council is committed to preserving urban greenery. For this reason, a reforestation plan has been established that includes the planting of new trees in the affected areas. This initiative seeks not only to compensate for the loss, but also to improve the quality of the urban environment for future generations.
