A common front for environmental defense
Several organizations, political parties and neighbors in the Polop Alt Valley have decided to join forces to address the proposal to install a photovoltaic macroplanta in this area. Those involved describe this situation as an unequal struggle, comparable to the famous story of David and Goliath, but they are hopeful to be able to stop what they consider to be a serious threat to the environment.
The environmental gang La Carrasca raised the voice
The Environmental Gang La Carrasca, an active group in the defense of the environment, has expressed their rejection of the project. Tire Llorens, one of its representatives, said that they have not currently presented any administrative contentious, as they are waiting for approval by the Ministry of Industry. Only when giving green light to the project will they be able to start legal actions.
Education and awareness as priorities
Llorens emphasized that his current mission is to inform and raise awareness of the population about the environmental impact of this installation. In order to increase the visibility of the problem, they have organized excursions and activities to present the affected area. Recently, they also held a panel discussion with experts from the University of Alicante, which generated great interest among the attendees.
Opinions of experts and scientific evidence
Tire Llorens added that a scientific commission of the Natural Parks of the Font Roja i Mariola has prepared an opinion against the macroplanta. According to him, scientific and technical evidence shows that the installation would have an unacceptable impact on the area.
Expectations on administrative responses
Regarding the lack of response to the allegations presented, Llorens commented that they are not surprised. He explained that despite the fact that general considerations have been made on allegations, no specific answers have been provided. They hope that before the approval by the Ministry, the allegations with reasoned arguments will be attended.

On the duration of the process, Llorens said that some procedures may move faster than others. In this case, the company behind the project is one of the most influential in Spain, which gives it considerable weight and power in the development of the situation.
