A Persistent Controversy

The scandal surrounding posters mentioning Ernest and Pasqual Maragall, as well as Alzheimer’s disease, remains a hot topic affecting Esquerra Republicana. This matter, which has not yet been resolved, has once again gained prominence after the recent statements by Tolo Moya, who until recently was the party’s head of communication and has decided to break the silence to defend his innocence.

Tolo Moya Defends Himself

In an interview conducted this Monday for the newspaper Menorca – Es Diari, Moya stated that he is being treated like a

The Internal Investigation

The investigation carried out by ERC determined that Moya was the one who controlled the controversy related to the Maragalls. As a result of this discovery, the party decided to open a file against him. Moya has denounced that, despite the fact that the scandal arose internally within his group, it was decided that he would be the scapegoat to cover up the true person responsible, whom he identifies as Sergi Sabrià, who held the vice-ministership at that time.

No Evidence

In his presentation, Tolo Moya has indicated that the real culprits are people he considers responsible, mentioning that the decision to display the posters was not validated by anyone within the party. He reveals that it was an action carried out autonomously by a group of young people who collaborate with ERC. He claims to be completely convinced that figures such as Sergi Sabrià and Oriol Duran were not aware of these actions and emphasizes that these decisions were made without the approval of higher authorities.

Mentoring Complaints

Throughout the interview, Moya also spoke about how attempts were made to take advantage of his situation to divert suspicions from Sabrià, arguing that his dismissal is a desperate attempt to silence him. He emphasises that so far there is no evidence against him, which he considers a clear injustice.

The Role of Ernest Maragall

The former communications chief has not spared criticism of his superiors, including Ernest Maragall, whom he accuses of spreading lies about him. In addition, he has pointed out Marta Rovira, general secretary of the party, who has also been in the eye of the storm for her statements. Moya highlights that her inheritance in the internal investigation falls on her and several party leaders, implicating them directly in the scandal.

Formal Complaint for Filtration

The situation has intensified, since the party filed a complaint against Moya for the leak of recordings related to the cartels. This incident led to his dismissal from his position as advisor in the Barcelona Provincial Council, alleging

The Future of Moya

Despite this, Moya has declared that both the investigation carried out by the Mossos d’Esquadra and by the Ara media have not indicted him, which opens up new possibilities. For this reason, he does not rule out filing a lawsuit seeking justice and reparation for the damage to his image, concluding that he is prepared to face any legal action that his party decides to take against him.
