Promoting Composting in the Valencian Community

The CREA Waste Consortium is carrying out a significant initiative to promote composting in the Valencian Community. At a recent information day, the expansion of composting islands and the distribution of home kits to encourage this sustainable practice was highlighted.

Various Lines of Action

This project addresses several key areas, including composting at the Villena treatment plant, home, community and school composting. This comprehensive approach reflects the consortium’s commitment to sustainable development and efficient waste management.

Growing Composting Network

Laura Estevan, president of the consortium, has underlined the success of the decentralized composting network in the Valencian Community. In addition, the active participation of municipalities and the support of families has been highlighted, with more than 600 households already having a composter. In addition, the implementation of 11 new composting islands and the distribution of 275 additional household kits have been announced.

Positive Results and Future Perspectives

During the day, the manager of the CREA Consortium, Alfonso Sánchez, shared the positive results of the previous year and the goals for the future. The significant increase in the separate collection of oil and textiles has been highlighted, demonstrating the success of the recycling and sustainability initiatives.

In addition, Pedro Berenguer, director of Ecosilvo, presented the bio-waste separation and recycling service, highlighting the commitment of the consortium municipalities to responsible waste management.
