The family legacy and passion for reading
From an early age, my house was always a shelter for various readings, from newspapers and magazines to books and comics. This atmosphere rich in information cultivated a deep interest in me today, a fire that was avoided when I started my university period in Girona in the late 1990’s.
Born of a need: Catalan corner
With a tight budget, my solution to keep me up to date was a montine coffee at the bar, where I used to read the newspaper. In 1999, this habit led me to launch a project with friends: Racó Català. This platform, which still works today, combined digital news with a space for the community, through forums and interaction between users.
A digital revolution: the birth of a new age
As the Internet grew, so did our vision. We participated in initiatives to establish a digital media network, recognizing that, despite being considered a passing fashion for the traditional press, we played an essential role in modern communication.
The confrontation between tradition and innovation
Many printed media took to acknowledge that digitalization was a reality that had come to stay. His paternalistic gaze underestimated us, thinking that the digital content was a simple entertainment, while we, without any inheritance of paper, began to mark the pattern in the information landscape.
The present: Content creators and the old guard
Now, we are in a new phase where content creators are emerging as influential voices. Despite this, the publishing sector, both on paper and digital, seems to repeat the mistakes of the past, looking at these new agents with the same condescension with which they once looked at the digital newspapers.
A shared future
The key to the survival of the publishing sector lies in the ability to integrate these new voices. Traditional media must realize that collaboration with content creators can enrich their project and provide new ways of connecting with the public. Current communication is a dynamic ecosystem that requires constant adaptation.
Final reflections
With an optimistic look, I hope the publishing sector learns to value and integrate content creators. Only in this way can we advance together, combining the wisdom of the years past with the innovation of the present, to build a more robust future in the world of communication.
