A tradition renewed in Prades
On the weekend of May 24 and 25, Prades will dress in Gala to host its emblematic Thyme Festival. With the use of 650 trunks of wool, the village is adorned with decorations that will remain beyond June 1, turning the streets into a visual spectacle. In addition to its beauty, decorations are a reflection of the collective work and passion of its inhabitants.
A trip to the past: The roots of the party
Historically, during this time of year, the women of the village gathered in the Plaza Mayor to prepare bundles of thyme, thus marking the beginning of spring and the sowing of potatoes. This tradition, which unites generations, celebrates nature and the community, and remains alive through the activities of the party.
Women and Creativity: The engine of the party
Since last October, a group of dedicated women has been working on crochet crafts to beautify the party. At the beginning of the year, meetings become more frequent, with the aim of bringing life to the decorations. This year, about thirty volunteers, under the support of the City Council and the Association of Women L’Abellera, have helped to make this celebration a reality.
Various Activities: A program for everyone
On Saturday, May 24, the party will begin with an artisan market and a tasting of thyme tisana with honey in the Plaza Mayor. Joan Reig will be in charge of inaugurating the event at 12 noon, followed by the performance of the Falcons de Llorenç del Penedès.
Entertainment for all ages
In the afternoon, the little ones will enjoy wooden games, while at seven, the Audite Choir will offer a concert at the church. The day will culminate in ‘Suite de la Terra i el Vi’, a fusion of music and poetry by Aleix Cort and Gerard Marsal, with the Mas Vicenç winery as a backdrop.
A Sunday full of activities
On Sunday, May 25, the starting shot will be given with a facade decoration contest. Visitors will continue to explore the craft market and tasting the Thyme Tisana. At nine in the morning, fast painting competitions will begin, for adults and children, with workshops for children in the Plaza de la Paz.
Prizes and tradition
The day will end with the awards ceremony of the competitions in the room 1 of October, with the collaboration of Xavier Grasset. Whoever presents with traditional Catalan dress will receive a special gift, thus celebrating the cultural richness of the community.
A party with a modern touch
In addition, Instagram users will be able to participate in a contest to win a batch of local products using the hashtag #Festafarigola2025. The rules of the competition can be found on the official website of Prades, thus promoting the active participation of young people.
