Carles Puigdemont will return to Catalonia for the investiture debate
The Junts candidate for the Catalan elections has announced that he wants to return to Catalonia for the investiture debate after the next elections. It doesn’t matter if he wins the election or not, his decision is to participate in the debate in Parliament in both cases.
According to his words in an interview with RAC1 from Perpignan, Puigdemont has declared that his candidacy is all or nothing and that he will leave active politics if he fails to be elected president.
The return to Catalonia is conditioned on the final approval of the rule for the judicial oblivion of the Process
Puigdemont has stressed that his return to Catalonia is conditional on the final approval of the rule for the judicial oblivion of the Process, which is scheduled for the end of May. He has emphasized the fact that his return will not be an electoral act or a provocation, but must have institutional meaning.
Absolute conviction in impunity and the judicial future
Puigdemont has expressed his absolute conviction that his summons to the Supreme Court in June for the Tsunami case will remain on ‘wet paper’ when the amnesty comes into effect in May. At the same time, he believes that the courts will do everything possible to try to prevent the application of the amnesty.
Proposals for political debates
Puigdemont has shown himself open to debating with the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, or even to hold a three-way debate with the socialist leader and leader of the PP ranks, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
He does not rule out the votes of Aliança Catalana, despite being a far-right formation, and he has also expressed his disagreement with the project of the former Minister of Culture, Clàudia Ponsatí, who is leading Alhora’s candidacy.
