The New Edition of the Award: A Renewed Commitment

This morning, the Tarragona Region of the Association of Journalists of Catalonia, in collaboration with the Santa Tecla Health, Social and Teaching Network, announced the second edition of the Tarragona Health and Social Rights Journalism Award. This initiative seeks to keep alive the interest in journalism that addresses vital issues for society.

Details of the Call

During the press conference, Joan Maria Adserà, general director of the Network, and Esteve Giralt, president of the Demarcation, explained the basis of this new call. Journalists can submit their work, which must be published or broadcast during 2024, with a submission deadline that will be extended to various formats and media.

Categories and Endowments

The prize has two categories: the Health and Social Rights Category, endowed with 3,000 euros, and the Local Category, with 2,000 euros. The first seeks work related to health and social rights in the Catalan context, while the second is restricted to projects that reflect the reality of Camp de Tarragona.

A Recognition of Professionalism

With a total endowment of 5,000 euros, the aim of this award is not only to reward the quality of journalistic work, but also to encourage the coverage of issues related to health and social rights. Giralt has highlighted the importance of rigorously reporting on the health system and social services, stressing the need to recognize the work of journalists in this area.

Expectations and Future of the Award

With a first edition that recorded great participation and quality, Adserà has expressed its desire that this second edition be just as successful. The award will be presented in the spring of 2025, and the organizers hope that this initiative will consolidate and grow over time, benefiting both journalists and society in general.

Collaboration for a Better Future

The call for this award is the result of an agreement between the Xarxa Santa Tecla and the College of Journalists of Catalonia, with the aim of promoting actions that add value to the journalistic profession and the media system of Camp de Tarragona. With this collaboration, the aim is to ensure that information on health and social rights is accessible and of high quality for all citizens.
