After three weeks of uncertainty, the truth about the devastation of a plot of more than 4,000 square meters in Calahorra has finally been revealed. The promoter of the Holika and Gran Reserva festivals, Burcor Producciones, has admitted to being responsible for this illegal intervention in the natural forest. This action was carried out without any authorization and committing multiple violations.
Official confirmation
The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment has received a letter from the Calahorra City Council in which the promoter acknowledges its responsibility in the events. Until now, the promoter had avoided commenting on the matter, but she has finally admitted her participation in this devastation.
Legal consequences
The actions of the promoter have been considered a very serious infraction, since it was carried out without a municipal license and on a plot of Public Hydraulic Domain. According to the technical report of the Calahorra City Council, it is estimated that the costs of restitution and reforestation of the land amount to 36,500 euros in the main plot and 3,097 and 114 euros in the private estates. In addition, a financial penalty ranging between 30,000 and 300,000 euros will be imposed.
Actions to take
The information about this case will be transferred to the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, who will take the necessary measures. For its part, the Government of La Rioja has opened a sanctioning file and the General Directorate of Natural Environment and Landscape is preparing the corresponding reports to determine the scope of the intervention and demand the necessary environmental restoration measures.
