An ambitious budget for the future
In an extraordinary session held recently, the Hostalets de Pierola City Council gave the green light to the municipal budget for next year, set at 9.31 million euros. This proposal, promoted by the ruling coalition formed by Sumem and ERC, led by Dani Vendrell, did not gain the support of the opposition represented by Junts pels Hostalets.
Highlighted investment priorities
One of the most remarkable features of this budget is its amount dedicated to investments, which amounts to 2.5 million euros, considered an unprecedented contribution. Of this amount, 1.4 million euros will be allocated to the construction of a new sports center, a project with a total cost of approximately 3.3 million euros.
The government’s commitment
Dani Vendrell expressed that this investment is exceptional and difficult to replicate in the future, stating that the executive is determined to make this equipment a reality during its term.
Other significant investments
The budget also foresees an investment of nearly 500,000 euros to improve the water network, financed by a subsidy from the Diputació de Barcelona. In addition, 120,000 euros will be allocated to improve the lighting in Can Fosalba and 200,000 euros to remodel Plaça del Dr. Conde, a project that will be designed with the active participation of residents.
A balanced view of finances
Toni Solsona, Councilor for Finance, emphasized that the increase in the budget seeks to improve sports facilities, although it is a proposal that seeks to be responsible in the management of municipal expenditure, taking into account the general increase of the costs.
Differences with the opposition
The opposition, led by Junts pels Hostalets, expressed its disagreement with the budget increase, criticizing that the majority of municipal services are seeing their allocations increased, which they consider contrary to the commitment to delink municipal finances from landfill revenues.
Intense debates and other topics addressed
The session, which lasted more than four hours, included the telematic participation of councilor Xavier Coll and dealt with other issues such as the approval of a strategic subsidy plan and the creation of the Anoia Sud Association, with the aim of improving the management of shared services between several municipalities.
Changes in local urban planning
Among the most controversial items on the agenda was the modification of the partial plan of the Camp de la Serra industrial estate, approved unanimously, which seeks to improve the planning of the area, increase green spaces and strengthen the road system.
Uncertain future for urbanization
The approval of the subsidiary regulations for the urbanization of Serra Alta generated an intense debate about the economic viability of the proposed solutions, such as the implementation of septic tanks in contrast to the creation of a sewer network that presented economic doubts.
Administrative and fiscal aspects
The session concluded with the review of administrative and tax aspects, including the final approval of the tax ordinances for 2025 and the tax calendar related to the water supply rate.
