Creators in the Search for Artistic Prototypes
The Center d’Arts Santa Mònica has started the call for ‘Artistic Innovators’ grants, consisting of 21 prizes of 9,200 euros intended for creators interested in the creation of research and experimental prototypes in artistic mediation during an eleven-month residency.
This opportunity opened last Tuesday, April 9 and will end next April 30, offering participants the possibility to develop artistic mediation prototypes that explore transmedia formats to attract a wide variety of audiences.
Promotion of Innovative Prototypes
The ‘Innovative Artists’ initiative aims to encourage the exploration of artistic mediation formats that can transport content, discourses and artistic questions to a wider audience, thus promoting horizontality and collective thinking.
With temporary residencies planned from September 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025, resident artists will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of prototypes of artistic mediating devices, encouraging interaction and knowledge sharing in an environment shared at the Santa Monica Arts Center.
Various Modalities of Mediation
Research in Participatory Mediation
The ‘Innovative Artists’ call is divided into seven modes of mediation, which include aspects such as public participation in artistic and cultural events through alternative forms of reception and interaction.
Research in Spatial Mediation
Within this modality, research is contemplated that reimagines artistic content in relation to the design of exhibition spaces and ephemeral architectural devices, including explorations in the organization of constructions in public spaces.
Research in Digital Mediation
This modality offers the possibility of investigating experimental forms of artistic mediation through applications, platforms and digital projects with the aim of connecting with new audiences through new technologies.
Research in Other Modalities of Artistic Mediation
The program also includes modes of communicational, editorial, educational and gastronomic mediation, offering creators opportunities to explore different forms of communication and artistic creation through various activities and gastronomy as a tool for artistic socialization.
Information and Registration
The deadline for applications will be from 9 to 30 April 2024, through the Generalitat’s procedures portal. In addition, an information session will be held on April 16 at 12 noon in Santa Mònica, offering details about the call and answering any questions. The session will be broadcast online via Zoom for those interested who cannot attend in person.
