The International Education Conference promoted by the Confederation of Education Workers’ Unions

Context of the Conference

The Confederation of Teaching Workers’ Unions, together with the STEI Intersyndical, is organizing an International Conference that will be held as part of its Congress in Valladolid from April 11 to 14. This event aims to facilitate debate and the exchange of information and proposals related to the reality of education.

International Participation

The Conference will bring together confederations, federations and unions from various parts of the world, including a relevant representation of European and American unions. Among the participants, the presence of the Education International stands out, with which the Confederation of Inter-Union STEs and the Confederation of American Educators have fundamental links.

According to the STEI Intersindical union, this meeting represents a crucial opportunity to address issues relevant to teaching workers at all educational levels and to debate issues of concern to the educational community at a global level. Emphasis will be placed on the situation of education on an international scale, the working conditions of teachers and mobilization campaigns to achieve a common position and joint demands.

Objectives and Topics to Debate

The goals of the Conference include strengthening the defense of public education services and improving working conditions against the neoliberal policies affecting many countries. The importance of the unity of education workers and the international trade union movement to achieve these goals will be put on the table. In addition, relevant issues such as co-education, the bureaucratization of the teaching task, the implementation of new educational laws and other topical issues affecting the educational community will be debated.
