A Special Night at the Madrid Book Fair

The Madrid Book Fair surprised attendees this Friday night with a special program that marked a milestone in its history. Under the name ‘The illuminated night’, the event extended its hours until 11:30 p.m., offering activities at night for the first time. This initiative, which seeks to provide a unique experience to visitors, was inaugurated by the fair’s director, Eva Orúe, who presented an exciting surprise concert by the talented Rayden.

Surprise Actions and Renewable Energy

In addition to Rayden’s outstanding concert, ‘The Illuminated Night’ offered surprise performances by talented emerging artists such as Natalia Vega, El no de las Niñas and Álvaro Sola, from the immersive musical experience company Sofar Sounds. Likewise, attendees enjoyed captivating microtheater performances by students from the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art of Madrid (Resad).

In an effort to promote sustainability, the fair turned to renewable energy to illuminate the three stages of this first edition of nighttime activities. In collaboration with Repsol, the fair installed solar panels that accumulated the necessary energy during the day to illuminate the event at night, demonstrating its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

Commitment to Sustainability and Culture

The 83rd edition of the Madrid Book Fair reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by partnering with Repsol, who also supplied energy to the fair’s pavilions from renewable fuel. This initiative will contribute significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions, demonstrating the joint effort to preserve the environment.

In addition, Repsol offered discounts on its sustainable mobility service, Wible, to facilitate access to the El Retiro park, where the event took place. The fair, which hopes to surpass last year’s success, joins other renowned cultural events in its commitment to sustainability, demonstrating that culture and environmental protection go hand in hand.
