The Popular Party makes a new proposal
The meetings between the partners of the governing pact continue, and recently the Popular Party has made a new proposal to the spokesperson of Seny and Sentit, Sebastià Aguiló, to govern together. This proposal includes several conditions, among which the reduction of the Economic Promotion item of the current councilor and its allocation to Social Services stands out. This is because they consider that Sóller is already promoted enough. The Councilor for Government, Carlos Darder, has expressed this idea.
The pact with Pep Porcel
On the other hand, the non-affiliated councilor, Pep Porcel, has decided to stay within the pact. After meeting with the representatives of the Popular Party, both at local level and with the general coordinator of the PP, Sebastià Sagreras, he has agreed to continue forming a government. The main objective is to work on improving the mobility of Sóller, a need that the people of Soller are asking for. This agreement is based on a technical collaboration, not a political one, with the aim of benefiting the citizens of Sóller.
Other perspectives
Despite these moves, there is still no final decision. Mayor Miquel Nadal has stated that decisions are made carefully and that there are several options on the table. From Seny, the spokesman Sebastià Aguiló has recalled that there is a pact signed with the PP that is in force and that governance has not been altered at any time. Aguiló has put the responsibility of making a decision in the hands of the PP. On the other hand, the spokesperson of the PP, Carlos Darder, has emphasized that the signature of Pep Porcel’s support gives them stability and shields the absolute majority.
A possible three way pact
One of the possibilities being contemplated is to maintain a three-way pact between the PP, Seny and Sentit, and Pep Porcel as a non-affiliated councillor. This configuration would ensure the absolute majority and allow working together on projects for the benefit of Sóller.
