More Digital: The fight against the digital divide

Objective and economic investment

A training program called ‘Més Digitals’ has been launched with the aim of combating the digital divide in Catalonia through training in digital skills and new technologies. With a budget of 22.7 million euros, it is planned to train more than 90,000 people, especially over 65, until 2026.

Pilot test and registrations

The program will conduct a pilot test in five municipalities and open general registration for the courses at the end of this year. They will be held in small groups, distributed throughout the territory, and three training itineraries can be chosen adapted to the previous digital knowledge of the participants.

Target audience

With a focus on people over 60 and in vulnerable situations, the program aims to train around 80,000 people within this age group, as well as 10,000 people in special situations of vulnerability.

Face-to-face and free courses

A total of 9,031 face-to-face courses are being planned, with a duration of around 15 hours and in small groups. These courses will be free and will be held throughout the Catalan territory, with a special emphasis on the main cities and the largest municipalities.

The courses will take place in different counties, prioritizing capital cities and densely populated municipalities. It is expected that a wide range of courses will be held in Barcelona and other metropolitan areas, as well as in the Alt Pyrenees and Aran.

Registration and dissemination

Registrations for the courses will be open from autumn this year and can be done through various channels, including the web and telephone services. In addition, a dissemination campaign will be developed to attract the public’s interest in the ‘Més Digitals’ programme.
