An outstanding event in the Penedès
This past Sunday, the Moixiganguers d’Igualada gang made an outstanding appearance in the Penedès, as part of Sant Miquel’s Day. Together with the Castellers de Vilafranca and the Sagals d’Osona, they prepared the stage for the next Castle Competition.
Castles with aspirations
Castellers de Vilafranca opened the round with an impressive 3d9f, looking to increase their performance in the competition event. The Moixiganguers then showed their prowess with a 4d8, a castle they’ve safely dominated all season and are now looking to take it one step further with the addition of an extra floor.
Contributions of the gangs
The Sagals of Osona, closing the first round, unloaded a 7d7, thus consolidating their presence. In the second round, the Greens repeated with a 4d8 with a needle, while the equals surprised with a clean 5d8, the third of this season, which they also want to present in the contest.
Preparations for the contest
In the final round, those from Vilafranca achieved a lined 4d9, which is predicted to be even more impressive. The Moixiganguers of Igualada attempted their 8-lined tower with hopes of trying new techniques for the contest, while the Sagals of Osona showed their potential with a 7-tower, aiming to reach eight .
Moments culminants
One of the most spectacular moments was the pillar of 7 that the Castellers de Vilafranca achieved in the round of pillars of merit. The day culminated with a span of five and four pillars of four by the Moixiganguers, in a simultaneous show with the five pillars of four from Vilafranca and another span of 5 from Vic.
Looking to the future
As is tradition on St. Michael’s Day during competition years, the gangs tested castles that they want to bring to Tarragona. The Greens tried a 4d10 with lining and handcuffs, the Moixiganguers experimented with the 4d9 with lining, and the Sagals of Osona did an 8 tower test with lining.
Call to the city
The next meeting of the Moixiganguers will be on Sunday 6 October at the Castle Competition, one of the most significant events in the world of castles. This year, the Igualadins will perform again with the most prominent gangs. For this reason, the group appeals to citizens and supporters to accompany them in this important event, remembering that there will be special rehearsals on Wednesday and Friday, open to all.
