A new stage for municipal revitalization

The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has revealed an ambitious project that will allocate € 1 billion to the Neighborhood Plan for the next five years. This initiative, presented at an event in Vilanova i la Geltrú, seeks to transform and rehabilitate needy areas in more than 100 municipalities.

Five years of continuous support

The executive has scheduled a total of five calls, one each year, with a contribution of 200 million euros for each edition. It is expected that the total sum of mobilized resources will reach between 1,600 and 1.7 billion euros, including the contributions of the councils.

Co -financing mechanisms

The projects will be financed through a co -financing system, where the Government will cover between 50% and 75% of the cost, depending on the population of each municipality. Thus, larger cities will receive a 50% support, while the smaller ones will be able to benefit from 75% funding.

A rigorous selection process

The implementation of the Neighborhood Plan will require the approval of a decree that will regulate the calls and the deployment of the program. The councils will be responsible for identifying areas that need improvements and submitting their proposals between September and October.

Selection criteria for projects

To access funding, the areas to be transformed must have an average income of less than 15,000 euros a year. In addition, it will be sought to ensure that the interventions are consistent and integrated, avoiding isolated projects.

A sustainable and social approach

This edition of the Neighborhood Plan will focus on the rehabilitation of old homes with an approach to energy efficiency and sustainability. The Government aims to address social inequalities through the improvement of the urban environment and community cohesion.

A priority for government

President Illa has stated that this plan is one of its priorities, emphasizing the importance of adapting to global changes while maintaining attention to local needs. He emphasized that councils would play a key role in their implementation.

Positive reactions of the municipal world

Representatives of the municipal entities have held this initiative. David Bote, President of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia, emphasized the Government’s commitment to not leave anyone behind, while Gerard Sabarich, vice -president of the Association of Municipalities of Catalonia, has requested that the Plan be long -term continuity.

With wide support and a vision focused on social inclusion, the Neighborhood Plan is an opportunity to transform communities and tackle urban challenges effectively.
