Public Consultation for Agrarian Renewal
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment of the Balearic Islands has started an innovative public consultation process regarding its draft agricultural law. This procedure will be open for two months, starting on August 1 and ending on October 1, with the aim of collecting the opinions of citizens and the organizations involved.
Objectives of the New Draft Law
With this initiative, the Balearic Government seeks to effectively structure the various areas of agricultural, livestock and forestry activity. Therefore, it is intended to promote an integrated rural development that adapts to the insular characteristics of the archipelago, recognizing the importance of a multifunctional agriculture within the European context.
A Multifaceted Approach
The new legislation must emphasize not only the economic value of agricultural activities, but also emphasize its social, cultural and environmental dimensions. This involves ensuring the profitability and sustainability of farms, guaranteeing their long-term viability.
Contributions from the Sector and Civil Society
Councilor Joan Simonet has expressed the need for the collaboration of all agents linked to the sector, including professional and cooperative organizations. According to Simonet, it is essential that citizens and professionals are actively involved, so that the regulations are representative and effective in facing the current challenges of Balearic agriculture.
An open and inclusive process
The councilor stressed that it is essential that the law reflects local realities and responds adequately to the needs of all those involved. This inclusive perspective seeks to ensure that the different voices in the sector are heard and valued.
