Modernization and openness to the public
The Old Port of Barcelona, one of the most attractive and unique areas of the city, is about to experience a major transformation in the next five years. This plan, which has an investment of 250 million euros, will make it possible to gain 15 hectares to the south, with the aim of making the Old Port a larger space and more integrated with the city.
A global benchmark for citizen port
The president of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó, and the director of the Old Port, David Pino, have presented this new roadmap in an event held recently. With this plan, the aim is to consolidate the Old Port as a global benchmark for a diversified, innovative and sustainable public port. A greater integration of the port with the city is foreseen, as well as the urban and energy transformation of the Port. Openness to citizens and sustainability
One of the main priorities of the Port Vell 2025-2030 Strategic Plan is to open Port Vell more to the public and make it more accessible and attractive to all. This will be done by carrying out cultural, sports and recreational activities related to the sea. It is also planned to move the activity of the Old Port towards the south, in areas that until now were dedicated to commercial activity or passenger transport. A sustainable space integrated with the city
The Port Vell 2025-2030 Strategic Plan also aims to make Port Vell a more sustainable and integrated space with the city.
