An Arts Meeting in the Heart of Barcelona

In the heart of the vibrant city of Barcelona, the Palau de la Música Catalana stands as an imposing temple of culture, music and architecture. It is here that poetry finds its home, harmoniously interwoven with the melodies that resonate on its walls.

The Hybrid Cycle: A Spring of Verses

The Híbrids cycle, which complements the concert season, offers an exquisite selection of poetic events that run from April 28 to June 29. Five unique proposals invite word lovers to immerse themselves in a world of verses and emotions.

April 28: ‘Poetic Legacies’: Un Gran Recital

On April 28, the Palau hosts ‘Legados Poéticos’, a great recital that brings together renowned Catalan poets: Anna Gual, Jaume C. Pons Alorda, Antonina Canyelles, Rosa Font, Feliu Formosa, Biel Mesquida, Francesc Parcerisas, Jaume Pérez Montaner , Josep M. Sala-Valldaura and Olga Xirinacs. Accompanied by the cello of Mariona Camats, his verses will intertwine with the notes of Bach, Casals and Fábregas, creating a symphony of words and music.

May 19: ‘Modernist Spring’: Rescuing a Forgotten Tradition

On May 19, the Orfeó Català Rehearsal Hall is transformed into a stage for ‘Primavera Modernista’, a recital that rescues Catalan modernist poetry. The voices of Joan Maragall, Jeroni Zanné, Alexandre de Riquer, Apel·les Mestres and Joan Alcover will resonate between the walls, interpreted by Lluís Calvo, Jaume Coll Mariné, Carles Dachs, Laia Llobera and Susanna Rafart. Attendees will receive a commemorative handmade souvenir designed by Elias Plana.

May 22: ‘Ruins’: A Dialogue between Literature and Music

On May 22, the Petit Palau hosts ‘Ruins’, a recital that fuses texts by acclaimed writer Pascal Quignard with musical interpretations by pianist Aline Piboule. Schumann’s ‘Fantasy Op. 17’, renamed by Quignard as ‘Ruins’, serves as the starting point for an extraordinary musical journey spanning from Bach to Adès.

June 9: ‘Forest Poems’: A Song to Nature

On June 9, the stage of the Concert Hall becomes an enchanted forest with ‘Poemas del Bosque’. Lluís Soler will recite a selection of verses from Alexandre de Riquer’s emblematic poem, an ode to nature that evokes an earthly paradise inhabited by mythical creatures and the murmur of streams. The morning session will have translation into Catalan sign language for people with hearing disabilities.

June 29: ‘Another Serenade’: A Night Encounter with the Palau

On June 29, Anna Dot invites attendees to ‘Una Otra Serenata’, an original nighttime visit to the Palau de la Música Catalana. Under the cover of night, when the sunlight goes out, the building transforms into a sanctuary of sounds. Visitors will be able to hear the singing of animals, the rustling of plants and the murmur of flowing water, creating a magical and evocative atmosphere.
