The Parliament of the Canary Islands promotes the dissemination of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF)

Parliament’s Commitment

The Scientific Committee of the Chair of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria met with the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, to deliver a collection of books published by the entity between 2015 and 2023 During the meeting, Pérez expressed his gratitude for the donation and announced the intention to continue annually with the sessions dedicated to the REF, with the collaboration of experts from the Chair and the participation of students from Canarian universities.

Consolidation of the Conferences

The President of Parliament expressed her desire to consolidate the days dedicated to the REF, with an educational and informative approach, with the purpose that society perceives the unique Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands as a relevant issue. She highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Chair, highlighting her work in this area.

Featured Participants

Present at the meeting were Salvador Miranda Calderín, director of the Chair; Orlando Luján Mascareño and Antonio Viñuela Llanos, members of the scientific committee. In addition, Alcibiades Trancho Lemes, dean of the College of Economists of Las Palmas, participated as promoters of the Chair; Samuel Cruz Palenzuela, dean of the College of Commercial and Business Graduates of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Julio García-Pérez Fernández, delegate of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors of the Canary Islands; and Juan Luis Alayón García, president of the Association of Tax Advisors of the Canary Islands.

REF Chair Collection

The collection consists of seven books published in paper and digital format, addressing current topics related to the economic, legal and tax aspects of the REF, as well as its origins and historical evolution, from the Castilian conquest to the year 2000.

About the Chair

The main objective of the REF Chair is the study and dissemination of the Economic and Fiscal Regime, both in its technical and historical aspects. It directs its work both to specialists in the field and to the general public, so that they clearly perceive the benefits of the REF.

Financing and Collaboration

The activities of the Chair are financed by the Social Council of the ULPGC, the Círculo de Empresarios de Gran Canaria, the College of Economists of Las Palmas, the College of Commercial and Business Graduates of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Association of Tax Advisors of Canary Islands and the Canary Islands delegation of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors.
