The Popular Party promotes the placing of the LGTBi flag in the Valencian Courts
The Popular Party has managed to push forward a proposal to install the LGTBi flag in the Corts Valencianes, coinciding with Pride Day, after rejecting a similar initiative presented by the left. This resolution, approved only with the support of the popular parties, has generated controversy and disagreement between the different political parties.
Disagreement and criticism towards the PP proposal
The Table of the Corts Valencianes has been the scene of disagreements and criticism after the approval of this resolution. Both the president of the chamber, Llanos Massó (Vox), and the PSPV and Compromís parties, have expressed their rejection or abstention from the Popular Party’s proposal. The latter have described the initiative as ‘decaffeinated’ and have presented amendments that have not been accepted.
Position of the president of the Valencian Courts and Vox
The president of the Corts, Llanos Massó, has expressed her opposition to the placement of the LGTBi flag in public buildings, arguing that these are not the appropriate place to display symbols that do not represent the entire population. For his part, Vox spokesperson José María Llanos has emphasized that equality is not promoted by generating discrimination, maintaining that only institutional flags should fly in public buildings.
Criticism of the lack of institutional acts
Furthermore, criticism has been expressed towards the absence of institutional events related to the placement of the LGTBi flag, pointing out that in previous years these events were carried out officially, while on this occasion no resolution has been established in this regard.
