Figueres has more than 49,000 inhabitants according to the municipal register
Today’s Municipal Assembly will approve the opinion on the municipal register of Figueres on January 1, 2024, which indicates a population of 49,186 inhabitants, very close to 50,000.
The PSC denounces the lack of reliability in the data of the register
The PSC has issued a press release denouncing what they consider a lack of control in the municipal register since Junts per Figueres entered the government. According to the socialist group, this lack of control is due to the suppression of the registration agent in charge of verifying the veracity of the register, a fact that has called into question the reliability of the population data.

Municipal sources have assured that, despite the technical warning about the reliability of the data, the municipal statistics department has approved the opinion. They claim that they will respond to the accusations of the PSC during the municipal meeting.

Socialist spokesman Pere Casellas has denounced the alleged mismanagement, stating that Figueres must have a well-maintained register to avoid ghost registrations and guarantee the veracity of the population data.
