The Socialist Group of the Cabildo of La Palma promotes support for educational demands
The Socialist Group of the Cabildo of La Palma is promoting a motion that will be presented in plenary session this Friday. In this motion, the insular Corporation is urged to support the demands of the educational community of the Luis Cobiella Cuevas Secondary Education Institute (IES). These demands focus on the provision of staff with the appropriate teacher profile for the Enclave Classrooms, hired by the Ministry and not by the private company, as well as the conditioning of the center’s sports facilities.
Defense of quality and equal public education
The socialist counselor Susana Machín emphasizes the importance of the La Palma Council supporting the demands of the educational community of the IES Luis Cobiella Cuevas. Ella Machín emphasizes that these demands seek to defend quality and egalitarian public education, and that it is the responsibility of the Cabildo to support these demands.
Reverse measures that make educational quality precarious
Machín highlights the need to reverse the measures that are making educational quality precarious for students, especially in Enclave Classrooms. He emphasizes that it is essential that decisions that negatively affect educational quality be reversed, in line with the principles of equity and equality that should govern public education.
Situation generated by the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands
It is noted that the current situation has its origin in decisions taken by the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands. This entity has applied measures that contradict the Canary Islands Education Law, generating instability and precariousness in educational quality, especially in Enclave Classrooms.
Lack of official response to educational demands
Despite the actions undertaken by the educational community, to date there has been no official response to the demands raised. This includes requests for urgent meetings and detailed communications about the lack of fulfillment of promises by the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.
