Adverse weather conditions on the rise

The last few hours have been marked by an intense increase in precipitation in several parts of Spain, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean coast and the lands of western Andalusia. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned that this instability will extend during the day, with the forecast of abundant rain and storms that could generate significant accumulations.

A Thursday of storms and alerts

Last Wednesday was just a preview of what will be presented today, with a frontal system that is intensifying. The first precipitations have already been noticed on the Mediterranean coast, but this Thursday a notable increase in meteorological activity is expected.

Orange warnings for severe conditions

Andalusia and Catalonia are the most affected regions, with orange warnings activated by the AEMET, warning of heavy rains that could pose a ‘significant risk’. In Malaga, for example, this level of alert is expected to remain throughout the day, with accumulations of up to 30 liters per square meter in just one hour.

The storms that accompany these rains could be equally strong, causing authorities to maintain rigorous monitoring until Friday morning.

Catalonia under the meteorologist’s gaze

Catalonia, and in particular the coast of Barcelona, is also preparing for an episode of significant rainfall. The warning has currently remained at yellow level, but is expected to rise to orange from 9:00 p.m., with an accumulation that could reach up to 40 liters per square meter in a single hour.

Impact on the Islands and the Valencian Community

The Balearic Islands, with Mallorca and Menorca, are also on yellow alert for storms, which will mainly last until the early afternoon. In the Valencian Community, although the rains will be less intense, yellow warnings have been activated for the coastal areas of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia until noon.

Recommended precautions

Authorities have warned of the possibility of localized flooding, especially in urban and coastal areas. Citizens are advised to follow official instructions, avoid unnecessary travel and stay informed through reliable communication channels.
