He is considering the possibility of requesting authorization from La Zarzuela to participate in this significant event. “It is something that he is evaluating as the day approaches. Although it is still early, the emeritus continues to hold out hope for a possible public meeting with the princess,” sources close to him have indicated.
La Zarzuela’s response
However, La Zarzuela has responded clearly and forcefully. His refusal is based on the same reasons as before: the event is not designed for emeritus kings, much less if it involves Leonor. There is a particular concern to prevent the emeritus from interfering with the image of the heir, especially from the perspective of Queen Letizia, who is very cautious about the public image and future reign of her daughter.
