A Unique and Singular Proposal
The Second Woman is one of the highlights of the Greek Festival. In this unique proposal, the actress María Hervás will be on stage for 24 hours, repeating the same scene a hundred times with a hundred different men. This play, created by Nat Randall and Anna Breckon, promises to be a unique theatrical experience.
A Stage Creation Course
In addition to the show, creators Nat Randall and Anna Breckon will teach a stage creation course at Sala Beckett’s Summer Workshop. This workshop, entitled ‘Adaptation through interdisciplinarity: working at the intersection of theatre, film and performance’, is aimed at performers, directors and performers interested in interdisciplinarity. During the course, practical exercises based on films such as ‘The Murder of Sister George’, ‘All About Eva’ and ‘The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant’ will be carried out.
Exploring Contemporaneity
The creators aim to explore contemporaneity through their works. They want to identify what we are still told are literary, theatrical or cinematographic works created in the past and explore new paths that speak directly to our time. Questions about how to reach a large audience, how to create a personal connection with an artistic work and how to contribute to current debates are the ones that interest them most.
Influences and References
The creators are inspired by different fields such as cinema, theater and performance. Her influences include the pieces of Australian choreographer Latai Taumoepeau, the conceptual works of artist and filmmaker Barbara Campbell, the performative practice of Karen Finlay and the durational works of Taiwanese artist Tehching Hsieh. In terms of cinema, they cite directors such as John Waters, Kenneth Anger, Andy Warhol, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Ming-liang Tsai, Mike Leigh and Wong Kar-wai. They also highlight their knowledge of Catalan and Spanish cinema, with references to Pedro Almodóvar and Albert Serra.

The Second Woman is a unique theatrical experience unlike any other.
