Season data
The ski resorts of Espot and Port Ainé have concluded the winter season with satisfactory results despite the unfavorable weather conditions.
The company Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) has managed to keep the ski areas open for 125 days, from December to April, thanks to the snowfall in March and the snow production.
Port Ainé: a season full of activities
The Port Ainé resort has ended the season with a total of 34 snowfalls that have accumulated 243 centimeters of snow, with a maximum thickness of 190 centimeters.
Despite the sudden changes in temperature, the resort has managed to open 100% of the ski domain, offering more than 30 events ranging from sports competitions to cultural and musical celebrations.
Spot: a successful season
Espot has managed to accumulate 245 centimeters of snow with the recorded snowfall, reaching a maximum thickness of 180 centimeters.
With a total of 12 sporting events, highlights include the celebration of the Catalan Championships and the 3rd phase of the Spanish Cup in school age, as well as more than 10 cultural and gastronomic events.
Promotion of tourism in Espot
The lack of snow in other stations has favored the increase in activity at Espot, establishing itself as a reliable and attractive option for teams looking for optimal conditions for their training and competitions.
Although the stations planned to close in early April, they finally called it quits for the season a week later, closing on Sunday.
The season has meant an aggregate business of almost 50 million euros and the creation of 2,800 jobs for the valleys of the Upper Pyrenees.
Other stations in the area
Meanwhile, Boí Taül plans to reopen soon, recording an outstanding season with 125 days of lifts open and snowfalls that have left a maximum pist thickness of 260 centimeters.
The ski resorts of the Upper Pyrenees close the winter season with good prospects, showing themselves to be attractive destinations for sportsmen and visitors in general.
