by PREMIUM.CAT

Inauguration and Expansion

The Tramvia de Barcelona started its first route, the Trambaix, at the beginning of 2004. Now, twenty years later, it has expanded to include a total of six tram lines, covering 29 kilometers of track and with 56 stops. The number of trips made is close to 459 million, demonstrating its importance as a means of public transport in Barcelona.

Continued Expansion

The Tramvia expansion continues with the progress of the works on the new tramway on Diagonal Avenue. The tracks and catenary have already been installed from Plaça de les Glòries to Carrer de Girona (Verdaguer). The Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) is scheduled to complete this rail infrastructure in the spring, with testing to begin immediately.

Promotion and Discovery

The Consorci de Turisme del Baix Llobregat and TRAM, together, organize annually ‘La Ruta del TRAM’, a consolidated initiative that invites you to discover various points of interest, emblematic buildings and the gastronomic offer near the tram in the Baix area Llobregat. In addition, special discounts are promoted for visiting tourist and cultural attractions close to the Trambaix network (lines T1, T2 and T3), thus encouraging local tourism.

Culture and Sustainability

The Route also offers a great cultural, leisure and gastronomic offer, promoting visits to the parks, gardens and farmers’ markets of the different municipalities in the area. In addition, a selection of restaurants that offer cuisine with fresh products from the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park is highlighted. This initiative not only wants to bring local culture closer to visitors, but also seeks to encourage sustainable consumption and support for local products.

Through the ‘Family Tram Route’ you can enjoy activities for the little ones at the Esplugues Museums -Can Tinturé and La Rajoleta-, visit the Mathematics Museum and take a train ride through the Can Mercader park of Cornellà de Llobregat. In addition, various works of modernist architecture can be discovered in different municipalities, offering experiences for both adults and children.

The restaurants in the area offer local and local products, promoting the use of local products and guaranteeing the quality of the food.

20th Anniversary Celebration

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Trambaix has prepared several initiatives to celebrate this occasion. The interviews are broadcast through different online platforms and in podcast format, offering both a professional and personal approach to the interviewees.
