The uncertain future of the Trinitat Nova Chalet and other symbols in the neighborhood

An analysis that questions the value of the chalet

The City Council has made a decision in relation to the future of the building known as the Trinitat Nova Chalet. A study commissioned to heritage concludes that this building, despite its antiquity, does not have a prominent heritage interest. However, it is stated that it can have an emotional value for the local community.

The position of local government

Xavier Marcé, councilor of Nou Barris, stated that the rehabilitation of the villa is not a priority for the City Council, citing its small size and lack of budget. The estimated cost of restoration ranges from two to three million euros, an investment that is currently not considered viable.

History and meaning of the chalet

According to the Historical Archive of Roquetes – Nou Barris, the Chalet is not only a 1915 building, but also represents a larger project in the garden city promoted by the Marquis of Sivatte at the beginning of the 20th century. Although this project did not prosper, the chalet remains the only vestige of that ambitious initiative.

The Three Eyes Bridge – another heritage challenge

The councilor also addressed the theme of the bridge of the three eyes, another emblematic element of the Trinitat Nova. Marcé said that his restoration is a challenge that may require metropolitan collaboration, as it is considered a large project.

A forgotten symbol: the clock tower

The third element discussed is the clock tower, which was demolished in 2013 during a remodeling process. Although there were plans to rebuild part of this iconic monument, the loss of the original pieces has complicated their recovery. The City Council plans to integrate an evocation of this symbol into its neighborhood plan.

Reflections on local heritage

The situation of the villa, the bridge of the Three Eyes and the Tower of the Clock raise important issues on the preservation of heritage in the Trinitat Nova. While the community is expecting a clear response from the City Council, it remains to see how these elements can be recovered, which, despite their difficulties, remain a vital part of the neighborhood’s identity.
