Presentation of the 13th Edition
Next Tuesday, May 28, Can Alcover in Palma will host the presentation of the 13th edition of the Mèdia.cat Yearbook, a paper publication of the Observatori Crític dels Mitjans Mèdia.cat, promoted by the Ramon Barnils Group of Journalists .
This new edition of the Yearbook focuses mainly on the role of journalism in the face of the rise of the extreme right, a phenomenon that is constantly growing. In addition, it includes a report by Alba Tarragó on how the Administration and the strengthening of the communication offices put journalism in the Islands at risk.
Featured Content
In the Yearbook you will find a report by Nicolas Tomás that analyzes the presence of the extreme right in the media of the Catalan Countries and of the state, as well as a map of the extreme right ‘youtubers’ and ‘influencers’. It also examines the financiers and promoters of the extreme right-wing media, as well as the increase in censorship incidents carried out by this ideological current.
In addition, the Yearbook offers a guide with proposals for not normalizing extreme right-wing discourse in the media and a report on the virality of hate on the internet.
This edition also addresses issues such as women’s decision-making power in the media, competition for public attention and housing issues.
Reflection and News
After thirteen editions, the Yearbook has established itself as a reference for critical journalism, offering reports, analyzes and infographics to delve deeper into relevant issues. This edition continues its task of reflecting on current issues, journalism and communication, maintaining a critical and constructive view.
