A new leader for the European elections

The recent MEP Toni Comín will head the Junts per Catalunya list in the European elections next June 9 after Carles Puigdemont resigned from being the candidate.

Comín won the primaries with 77% of the votes, beating the other candidate, Joan Josep Florensa, who got 9% of the votes.

Objectives for the European legislature

In a video published on YouTube, Comín reviewed the five years of the legislature in Europe and highlighted the defense of the legitimacy of October 1, the right to self-determination and the denunciation of the authoritarian approach of the Spanish state

Comín underlined the victories at the judicial and political level, as well as the defense of the interests of the citizens of Catalonia on issues such as the pandemic, climate change and the war in Ukraine.

Its main objective is to get Catalonia to become an independent state within the European Union and to use the connections made in the last five years to achieve this.

Support from Puigdemont

Carles Puigdemont showed his support for Toni Comín’s candidacy, saying that he would love to see him re-elected to the Eurochamber because he has done an exceptional job.

Puigdemont emphasized the importance of having Comín on the European front, especially at the moment when the road to return begins and the country’s positions must be strengthened.
