A deadly accident loots a community
Saturday night witnessed a devastating tragedy when four young people, between the ages of 20 and 21, lost their lives in a car accident on the Ca-643 road near Soba, Cantabria. The vehicle they traveled left the road and fell on a slope of about 300 meters, causing a fatal outcome.
Circumstances of the accident
The young people were part of a group of friends who had decided to spend a weekend in a cabin, not far from the site of the accident. They were traveling in two vehicles when one of them suffered the accident. When emergency services arrived, the situation was critical, and despite the efforts of the rescue teams, they could not save the lives of the occupants.
Meteorological conditions and road safety
It is suspected that the conditions of the road, snow and ice covered, were decisive in the loss of control of the vehicle. The mayor of Soba, Julián Fuencilla, has expressed his concern about the safety of the road, suggesting that stricter measures should be taken in snow situations to avoid future accidents.
The reaction of the community and authorities
The tragedy has shocked the local community and has raised a debate on road safety, especially in adverse weather conditions. The road where the accident occurred does not have a guardian, and on the day of the accident it was under a red warning of the DGT, which required the drivers to use winter chains or tires.
A memory for the lost
The names of the victims have been a painful reminder of the fragility of life, with two girls and two boys who are now remembered by their families and friends. An automatic telephone alert of one of the occupants was the one who activated the emergency services, but unfortunately it was too late to save them.
Reflections on the future
As the community crys, it becomes clear that a deeper debate on road safety and measures to be implemented to prevent tragedies like this in the future is needed. The lives of lost young people represent a tragic reminder that road security must be a priority for everyone.
