Start of a Renovation With a Future Vision
Cambrils City Council has started preparations for the remodeling of the Mercat de la Vila, with the aim of revitalizing commercial activity in the area. With a total investment of 853,781 euros, of which 200,000 euros come from a grant from the Diputació de Tarragona, it is expected that the works will start next week and extend until June 2025.
Informational Meeting for the Community
To accompany this process, the departments of Public Works and Economic Promotion have convened an informative meeting for residents and traders. This meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 7 pm at the Cultural Center, with the notable participation of Neus Cárdenas, Councilor for Economic Promotion, Enric Daza, Councilor for Urbanism, and the municipal architect Víctor Pujol.
An Opportunity for All
The meeting is open to everyone who wants to know the details of the reform and the future gastronomic orientation of the market. In addition, a second session has been scheduled on November 6, focused on commercial operators interested in the tenders and rules of the new market.
Clear Objectives and Improvement Strategy
The remodeling project seeks not only to modernize the space, but also to promote local trade and boost economic activity. Through a new design that includes a glass wall that connects the interior with the exterior, we want to create a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere that will attract both residents and visitors.
Preservation of History
One of the priorities of the project is to preserve the main facade, dating from 1926, as well as to open a new access to the market from Carrer Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer, improving the accessibility and attractiveness of the building.
Interior and Exterior Transformations
The improvements will not be limited to the exterior. The interior of the market will be organized in such a way that the stalls are restructured and a space dedicated to gastronomy is created, where tastings and cultural activities can be held. This new design will allow the market to operate autonomously at specific times.
A Modern and Attractive Space
The new market will offer a unified image with modular stalls that will allow traders to customize their space. In addition, the false ceiling will be removed to make the most of the height of the space, highlighting the original wooden structure.
Complementarity with Avinguda Baix Camp
The reform of the Mercat de la Vila will be complemented by the works on the last section of Avinguda Baix Camp, which aims to create a pedestrian island and boost local businesses. This project, with a budget of 1,591,164.83 euros, represents a significant investment in the improvement of the urban environment.
With these actions, Cambrils is positioned as an attractive destination for local commerce, with the aim of creating a vibrant and accessible space for all.
