New Warehouse for an Efficient Supply
Sant Bartomeu del Grau City Council has given the green light to a strategic plan that seeks to revolutionize the municipality’s water supply system. The initiative includes the construction of a new deposit in the Serra de l’Oratori, which will replace the current one located in Les Escoles. With this move, a significant improvement in service efficiency and a reduction in energy costs associated with pumping is expected.
Optimization of the Water Network
The existing reservoir is currently 876 meters above sea level, while the new one will be 902 meters above sea level, allowing water to flow by gravity, eliminating the need for pumps. This improvement is an important step towards a more sustainable system and less dependent on external energy.
Analysis of Current Efficiency
The plan also includes a comprehensive diagnosis of the current network, which reveals an efficiency index of 80%, with practically non-existent leaks. These data highlight the robustness of the system, but also open the door to further improvements.
Centralization of Water Control
One of the most outstanding proposals is the centralization of the control of the water that is extracted from the new tank. Currently, the system is divided into three independent circuits, which makes effective management difficult. The integration of the data will make it possible to quickly identify any leaks and improve the efficiency of the network.
Expansion of the Distribution Network
The plan also contemplates the extension of the water network to the center of Albolquers, with a new pipe of 4.6 kilometers. In addition, the network will be segmented into five major areas, thus facilitating more effective management and more accurate monitoring of consumption.
Modernization of Materials
A significant renovation of the network will include the replacement of obsolete materials such as fiber cement in 12% of the total network, which corresponds to about 2.8 kilometers of pipe. This improvement is essential to guarantee the quality of the water supplied.
Implementation of New Technologies
The plan also foresees the installation of meters with radio reading technology, which will allow real-time management of water consumption, thus improving the ability to respond to possible incidents.
Budget and Planned Investments
The total budget for these actions amounts to more than 766,000 euros. The most significant items include the renewal of the distribution network (270,600 euros), the connection with Albolquers (263,500 euros) and the construction of the new depot (145,500 euros).
With this plan, Sant Bartomeu del Grau is positioned as an example to follow in sustainable water management, with a promising future in terms of efficiency and quality in supply.
