Interactive Music for Young Talents

An Unpublished Musical Meeting

Next Wednesday at noon, Plaça de la Vila will host an innovative concert that will highlight emerging musical talent in the city. Dubbed ‘Sons a la Vila’, this show will bring together young musicians from two neighboring towns in a unique event of its kind. The proposal, which combines musical experiences from several music schools, promises to surprise and captivate all attendees.

A Meeting of Emotional Projects

The event will have the participation of the ‘Melodies for Primary School’ project, promoted by the Sant Feliu Municipal School of Music, involving third and fourth grade students from educational centers such as Escola Gaudí and Escola Monterrat. This initiative will merge with the ‘Young Talent’ project of the Tarragona Municipal School of Music, which brings together young people of the same age group. The concert, the result of a fruitful collaboration, comes to life after months of preparation and dedication on the part of the participants, who hope to conquer the public with their skills and passion for music.

An initiative that unites music and social transformation

The long-awaited concert emerges after the active participation in a Conference on melody and social change promoted by the Pau Casals Chair the previous year. The promoter of the ‘Melodies per a Primària’ and ‘ArtJove International’ project, Anna Carné, shared her experience in this forum, opening the doors to the consolidation of the multi-school concert. The origin of this peculiar initiative was formed from the events of other centers dedicated to the promotion of community music, which inspired these two institutions to join efforts to create a show in common. The repertoire of the evening will include interpretations of traditional Catalan melodies, guaranteeing an unforgettable experience for the listeners.

A Concert With Unique Details

In addition to the fourth grade musicians of ‘Melodies per a Primària’ of Sant Feliu, they also stand out with a piece composed by the cello teacher of the Municipal Music School of Sant Feliu, Anna Carné. The theme of the piece is the planets, following the interesting theme of the school year at Escola Monterrat. Carné highlights that the piece features four of the eight planets, detailing that ‘it has been created specifically, in the key of D Major and including techniques such as glissando, tremolo and other effects that are possible with the instruments’. This unique concert marks the first collaboration of the cellists and violinists of the Sant Feliu project with another school, offering an unrepeatable experience for all participants.

An Unpublished Experience for Young Musicians

The project coordinator highlights the importance of young people’s participation in this initiative and points out that, apart from third grade students from both projects, fourth grade students will also join, ensuring that ‘everyone can enjoy and involve -se with the music in this concert’. In addition, it highlights the significant role of the ‘Melodies for Primary’ project, which has been established as an integral part of music education in two public schools in their school hours, reinforcing the importance of music in education primary

A Project Marked by Success and Cohesion

The ‘Melodies for Primary’ initiative has its roots in the results of a survey carried out by the Municipal School of Music in 2016 among students interested in enrolling in the centre. The results revealed that the students of the Gaudí School and the Monterrat School did not show a high interest in musical practice. Based on this information, the innovative ‘Melodies for Primary School’ project was launched with the aim of connecting young people with music and democratizing participation in instrumental ensembles. Since then, Christmas, end-of-year concerts and meetings have been organized between the two centers, establishing a strong bond that embraces diversity and equity in music education.

An Initiative Aimed at Expanding Horizons

One of the main goals of this project is to remove cultural barriers and promote access to education and artistic expression for all. The sessions are carried out with the collaboration of music experts from primary schools and teachers from the Municipal School of Music, creating an integrated educational experience. The ‘Melodies for Primary’ project seeks to improve the school environment while enhancing students’ learning skills, contributing to an increase in the demand for music studies in Sant Feliu.
