A musical journey full of passion
The Vaire group, formed by Christian Collado on guitar, Josep Puigcerver on drums, Sergi Ribes on bass and David Nadal as a vocalist, has become an emerging force within the Valencian music scene. Since its foundation, they have been determined to resonate their Valencian voice and culture, recently recognized with the Ovidi Award for the best rock album.
The start of an adventure
Its story begins in 2018, when Josep and Chris, former friends of Benimaclet, meet in Valencia during the university years. With a battery at the disposal of Josep, the idea of forming a group materialized unexpectedly, and soon they started creating music with only guitar and drums.
Search for new voices
Over time, they felt the need to expand their training, looking for a singer and a bass player to bring their compositions to life. Through an application for musicians, they joined the rest of the band, and by 2023 Pepo joined as a new guitarist, thus consolidating his current alignment.
A unique musical identity
Its style is defined by a mixture of rock with various influences such as pop, punk and even rap. Thus, his songs challenge traditional labels, reflecting their versatility and creativity.
The tongue as the central axis
One of the distinguishing features of Vaire is his decision to write the letters in Valencian. For the group, their native language is the vehicle through which they express their feelings and their culture, firmly believing that it is essential to be true to their roots.
Delay and opportunities
Although they acknowledge that singing in Valencian presents some difficulties, especially in a context where the language is often despised, they are convinced that music is a powerful means of overcoming these barriers. Their experience has led them to act in various places, including Norway and Galicia, where they are always well received.
Recognitions and future
The award obtained by ‘Catharsi’ is a reflection of its commitment to the defense of Valencian culture. They remember with excitement the time they were announced as winners, a time that symbolized the closure of an intense chapter and the validation of their efforts.
Looking to the future
By 2025, Vaire plans to continue concerts, although they are looking for a quieter pace after an intense year. In addition, they want to take the opportunity to call for the community about the need to support local artists, encouraging spaces where they can show their art.
