Presentation of a new social rights approach
On Thursday, the City Council of Vila-seca has held a significant press conference, led by the Mayor Pere Segura and the Councilor for Social Action and Equality Policy, Lucía Teruel. The aim of the meeting was to present an innovative integral program for people, called ‘Life Cycles Program’, which seeks to transform the social services focus on the city.
Reviews and achievements in four years
During the period 2021-2024, Vila-seca has undergone a remarkable evolution in its social services, which are now managed directly by the City Council. In addition to the municipalization, a new Office of Social Rights and Participation has been established and spaces such as the Ludoteca and the Espai Jove have been modernized, which have obtained a quality ISO certification.
Innovations in services and collaborations
Services such as the SIAD, the SAI and the SOAF have been introduced, and alliances have been created with various agents in the municipality, including institutions of health, education and social organizations. One of the most significant advances has been the implementation of a system that allows initial care within 48 hours from the basic social services area.
A commitment to dignity and well -being
The Mayor Segura emphasized that the transformation of social services is not only a matter of managing powers, but also a paradigm shift that promotes prevention instead of the reaction to social needs. He said that this model seeks to be a tool for equality and social progress.
OBJECTIVES OF THE VITAL CYCLE PROGRAM
Councilor Teruel explained that the new vital cycles program is based on the transition to care for prevention, with activities designed for various stages of life. This includes the creation of parenting groups, family reconciliation spaces, and workshops for young people and the elderly.
Recognize the effort of the technical team
Finally, both the mayor and the councilor thanked the technical and human team who worked rigorously and committed to make this transformation a reality, in order to help citizens in their daily lives before the problems become urgent.
