A revealing study of gender -based violence
Recently, an investigation carried out in the Alt Penedès has highlighted the disturbing reality of sexist violence in the region. With the participation of 227 people, the survey has revealed that an alarming 69% of respondents have experienced various ways of gender -related violence.
Various perspectives: The voice of women and men
The report, presented at an event organized by the Independentist Left, highlights the predominant participation of women, which constitute 82.8% of the participants. Of the 190 answers, 131 women (68.9%) have confirmed to have suffered a manifestation of sexist violence, hinting on a worrying trend that affects 7 out of 10 women.
Labor and social discrimination
The same study investigated the perception of discrimination in various fields. 81.6% of respondents said that they have been discriminated against because of their gender or dissident identity in the workplace, social or family. Only 18.4% indicated not to experience such discrimination.
Perception of job opportunities
Another crucial question addressed in the survey was equal employment opportunities. Most, a total of 173 people, said that dissident women and identities do not enjoy the same opportunities as men, with only 6 participants, pointing out that there is equality.
Evolution male awareness
The responses of the men, representing 38 participants, reflect a change in awareness of sexist attitudes. However, it is surprising that 5 men recognized not knowing how to act in a situation of sexist violence, while 2 confessed that they would do nothing.
