A Week of Climate Tranquility
Spain is enjoying a brief period of moderate temperatures this week, with Wednesday bringing pleasant weather to much of the country. The favourable conditions could continue into Thursday, especially in the Mediterranean coastal areas, where the weather is milder. However, forecasts warn that this serenity will not last long.
The Arrival of an Unstabilizing Front
A frontal system is approaching the peninsula, bringing with it a wave of instability that will affect much of the territory. From this Thursday, widespread rain and significant snowfall are expected. Meteorologist Roberto Brasero has warned of possible significant accumulations of snow, especially in the Cantabrian mountain range and the Pyrenees, where snowfall is expected to be more intense in the western areas.
Snow Costs and Warnings
Snow levels will initially be around 2,000 meters, but a drastic drop is expected to take them to between 700 and 1,000 meters in the Pyrenees. Authorities have issued yellow level warnings for snowfall in areas such as León, Asturias, Navarra, Huesca and the Aran Valley, highlighting the need for caution in the affected areas.
A Cold Marked on the Road
By Friday, it is expected that the weather front will pass and that the anticyclone will dominate the landscape again, bringing with it a notable drop in temperatures. The frosts will be widespread, causing more intense cold both in the morning and at night.
Hope for the Christmas Holidays
Looking ahead to the Christmas celebrations, Roberto Brasero has shared a note of optimism. Although the cold will be more intense in the immediate days, temperatures could begin to gradually recover by Christmas Lottery day. This positive trend looks set to continue during Christmas week.
A Welcome Thermal Rise
According to forecasts, temperatures could be milder than those recorded in recent days. ‘The cold will not be as intense as last Sunday or what is expected for this Friday,’ assures the meteorologist, bringing relief in the middle of winter, just in time for the festivities.
Anticyclone and Stability
Roberto Brasero highlights that the anticyclone will dominate the coming days, bringing more stable conditions to most of Spain. While some rain can be expected in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and light snowfall in the western Pyrenees, the general outlook points to sunny days with night frosts and morning fog.
Although there are still days left until the Christmas celebrations, weather forecasts seem to indicate that the weather will be calm and without major disturbances, offering a conducive atmosphere for the festivities.
