Alerts for changing weather conditions
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a warning for possible rain that will mainly affect the Mediterranean regions and the Pyrenees. This meteorological phenomenon results in an increase in atmospheric instability starting today.
Showers expected in the eastern peninsula
Several areas in the east of the peninsula are preparing for a day marked by intermittent showers, which could present a notable intensity in some localities. While much of the country will enjoy stable weather, the northern Mediterranean coast will experience more variable conditions.
Regions with the highest probability of rain
The autonomous communities that could suffer the most important consequences of these inclement weather are the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and the Valencian Country. The AEMET has reported that the precipitation could be significant, although it is not expected to be as torrential as last week’s.
Forecasts for the Balearic Islands
In the Balearic Islands, storms are expected in certain areas, with the north of the archipelago as a potentially problematic point. The rain could also affect other coastal areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Country, with the possibility of heavy precipitation.
Effects of the Atlantic front
In addition, the remnants of an Atlantic front could bring scattered light rain to the west of Galicia and parts of Castile and Leon. However, these precipitations are expected to be of lesser intensity and of short duration.
Active notices in Catalonia and Valencian Community
AEMET has activated yellow level warnings for Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands for today and tomorrow. The affected areas include the Oscenc Pyrenees and parts of Catalonia, with a special focus on inland areas away from the coast.
Specific areas on alert
In Lleida and Girona, as well as in the central depression of Barcelona and the northern pre-littoral of Tarragona, active warnings will be maintained. Mallorca and Menorca also join this alert, while Alicante and Valencia in the Valencian Community could experience considerable rain.
Possible changes in forecasts
As the week progresses, weather conditions could change. According to AEMET, it is likely that some warnings will be deactivated in the next 24 hours, although they will remain in force in certain parts of the Pyrenees, as well as in Alicante, Valencia and Menorca during Thursday.
