A Project With Meaning and Purpose
Young people who have grown up in protected environments have been protagonists in the creation of a new line of wines, using grapes from vineyards at risk of extinction due to the lack of generational renewal.
The Coop-era program, developed by the Actua cooperative, has as its main objective to provide a job opportunity for marginalized groups, while working to preserve the local agricultural fabric.
A Selection of Wines With History
After three years of research and work in the lands of the Penedès, Coop-era presents its first range of wines on the market, made in collaboration with four small wineries.
This collection of white wines includes four varieties, each vinified using unique techniques, inspired by tradition and local savoir-faire.
The grapes come from vineyards located in plots of Xarel·lo and Macabeu in Vilafranca del Penedès, as well as from a small historic vineyard in Subirats, which had been abandoned until it was recovered by the project in 2021.
An Opportunity for the New Agricultural Generation
This initiative also has a significant social impact, as it has provided work for young people who come from care centers and shelters.
Through job placement programs, these young people have learned the arts of viticulture and participated in the entire wine production process, from the vine to the bottle.
Christian Buono, co-responsible for the project, emphasizes that this experience provides young people not only with a job opportunity, but also with the possibility of learning social skills and routines that can be useful to them in the future.
An Opportunity for the Future of Agriculture
Beyond wine production, this project contributes to the preservation of local vineyards and offers support to farmers and wineries in the region.
Buono encourages consumers to purchase these wines, not only for their quality, but also for their positive social impact.
Each purchase represents a new opportunity for the young people who have participated in the project, helping them to build a more promising and independent future.
With the support of the public, this initiative can ensure its financial sustainability and continue to contribute to the growth of the new agricultural generation.
