A Multicultural Community
Currently, people of more than 90 different nationalities live together in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, creating a rich and diverse multicultural community. This diversity is reflected in the experiences and testimonies of migrant women who have arrived in the city in recent years.
Experiences and Testimonies
The photojournalist Raül Clemente has captured the experiences of these women in his project titled “Voices of Migrant Women in Sant Feliu de Llobregat”. Through a video presented in the Culture Room of Ateneu Santfeliuenc, the women share their migration experiences, feelings, concerns and future perspectives.
Recognition and Struggle
During the presentation of the project, the councilor for Solidarity and Twinning, Núria Carrera, highlighted the struggle of this group of women with diverse experiences. Mayor Lourdes Borrell claimed Sant Feliu as a welcoming city that values diversity and integrates migrants as an active part of the community.
Participation and Future
Some of the protagonists of the video attended the event, sharing their experiences and their integration into the city. The project also highlighted the need for support and clear information for migrated people, as well as the importance of training and integration into the local community.
Debate and Commitment
The project culminated with a round table moderated by the activist Aurea Ayón, the former councilor of Badalona City Council; Fátima Taleb and the facilitator of Sant Feliu’s diverse women’s group, Amal Ait Blal. The debate addressed relevant issues such as racialized feminism, religious freedom and interculturality, highlighting the commitment to diversity and inclusion.
